The heart of Mayo Woodlands is, well, the woodlands! It’s no exaggeration that the 200-acre Mayo Woods would likely be a state wildlife sanctuary today had not Dr. Mayo explored it first.

Bordering the Prairie and Forest neighborhoods to the north, the stately basswoods, oaks and hardwood maples of Mayo Woods overlook the Zumbro River in the valley below. Spring, summer, autumn and winter bring dynamic woodlands scenes and scents. Hiking and ski trails lead you into the surprising life of the lush, mature forest. A quiet interlude in the deep woods is disturbed only by the echoing flute of a wood thrush.

In the Village, Woodlands Park- the central park in the neighborhood- will be the type of safe, fun gathering space that has drawn together families throughout the ages. A place where neighbors can roast marshmallows by the fireplace in the three-season porch, play tag, climb around on the tot lot, fly a kite, start up a baseball game on the little league field or kick around the soccer ball.
In the park, neighbors can pick a bouquet of cut flowers for the dinner table or bring a basket lunch to the picnic area.
